Today we will discuss China under Mao Zedong. This is a two day lecture. You are welcome to watch all of it today and use tomorrow to review your China notes. Or you can split the lecture between today and tomorrow and review over the weekend.

Below is a link to a movie we would normally watch in class. It is an excellent representation of life in China from the Republic and Civil War all the way through Mao's Cultural Revolution. It is not required but students generally really enjoy the film. I encourage you to watch it and try to identify the events you've learned about in the film and consider their impact. It is in Chinese but has English subtitles.
